26.6.75 LAID DOWN AT DEVONPORT OCTOBER 1827 & LAUNCHED AS HMS NILE IN JUNE 1839. ON 23 JUNE 1876 BECAME THE TRAINING SHIP HMS CONWAY. RAN ASHORE AFTER TOW PARTED, WHILE PASSING THROUGH THE SWELLIES, ON 14 APRIL 1953. ON THE FOLLOWING DAY DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS. 3 YEARS LATER DESTROYED BY FIRE. REMAINS THEN SLIPPED BACK INTO DEEPER WATER. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY MERCANTILE MARINE SERVICE ASSOCIATION. (B.
