Circumstances of loss

5.6.92 SHIP HAD BEEN HIJACKED AT MOGADISCIO BY ABOUT 3400 SOMALI REFUGEES ON 5.6.92 AND HAD WAITED FOR THREE DAYS OFF ADEN BECAUSE PERMISSION TO ENTER HAD BEEN REFUSED. THE REFUGEES THEN FORCED THE MASTER TO RUN THE VESSEL AGROUND SO THAT THEY COULD GET ASHORE. MANY DROWNED WHEN THEY JUMPED INTO THE SEA TO GET ASHORE AND OTHERS DIED ONBOARD DUE TO THE HEAT AND STARVATION. (LLOYDS)
