Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck Giannoula K is located off the coast of Greece in the Mediterranean Sea near Cape Viglia at coordinates 35 55.18 N, 27 51.52 E. Sinking history and structural details from hydrographic surveys show the vessel sank on January 13, 1981, north of Cape Viglia approximately 0.5 miles offshore. The wreck settled in 20 to 25 meters of water, lying on its starboard side on a mud bottom. Subsequent survey reports and notices to mariners note that the masts of the sunken vessel remained visible above the surface, protruding about 12 feet out of the water located around 500 meters offshore between Akra Istros and Akra Viglia.
