Simplified Wreck Survey

Underwater Wreck Report: GALAXY II located off the coast of Libya in the Mediterranean Sea at coordinates 32 55.825 N, 13 13.717 E. The GALAXY II was a general cargo vessel that ran aground near the harbor approach. Historical survey data indicates the vessel was originally sighted aground between buoys 4 and 8. Following a salvage operation by a Norwegian firm in 1982, the wreck was slated for removal in three sections with cargo discharged by barge. Subsequent surveys in 1988 reported the wreck as not seen, leading to its removal from active navigation charts. This site is now classified as a cleared area.
