Simplified Wreck Survey

Shipwreck details for the possible Norwegian motor fishing vessel Fiskaren located off the coast of Northern Ireland near Black Head and Belfast Lough. The wreck position is 54 44.217 N, 5 36.4 W. Initially located in 1975 at an estimated depth of 11 to 12 fathoms or 22 meters, subsequent searches by Royal Navy vessels including HMS Clyde and R V Barr failed to definitively locate the wreck, noting the area features natural seabed pinnacles and reported fishing net snags. Later investigations in 1997 identified nearby modern metal debris likely from another source, and multibeam sonar examinations by HMS Enterprise in 2008 did not find the wreck, leaving its exact underwater status unverified.
