Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck Euler is an underwater obstruction situated off the western coast of France in the Bay of Biscay, near the approaches to the Loire Estuary and Saint-Nazaire, at coordinates 47 11.69 N, 2 18.497 W. First recorded as a dangerous wreck in March 1941, the site was evaluated for dispersal operations during the 1950s to reduce navigational hazards in the shipping channel. The Euler rests on a seabed with a general depth of approximately 9 meters and lies on a 165 to 345 degree alignment. Hydrographic surveys have recorded least depths over the wreck structure ranging between 2.8 meters and 4.2 meters, with later charting establishing a clearance depth of 3.9 meters. The wreck position is confirmed within 20 meters accuracy under WGS84 datum and is marked for maritime safety by a South Cardinal pillar light buoy labeled EULER positioned approximately 220 meters to the southeast.
