VESSEL, BUILT 1968 BY TOHOKU ZOSEN, SHIGOAMA. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY EASTERN SHIPPING LINES INC. ON PASSAGE FROM ZAMBOANGA TO JAPAN. SANK AFTER DEVELOPING A SEVERE LIST FOLLOWING POUNDING CAUSED BY BIG WAVES FROM TROPICAL STORM 'ED' WHEN NEAR RAPU RAPU ISLAND IN THE ALBANY PROVINCE, PHILIPPINES. 25 CREW DIED, ONLY SIX SURVIVED. (MSD).
