BUILT OF IRON IN 1874 BY BOWDLER, LIVERPOOL. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY SS CYRIAN CO LTD, LIVERPOOL. TWO BOILERS, COMPOUND EXPANSION ENGINE OF 170 HP, SINGLE SCREW. PASSAGE LIVERPOOL FOR GENOA. GENRAL CARGO. SUFFERED BURST BOILER TUBE IN STBD BOILER FOLLOWED BY TOTAL STEERING GEAR FAILURE. WATER FROM THE STBD BOILER EXTINGUISED THE PORT BOILER. DRIVEN TOWARDS THE LAND THE PORT ANCHOR WAS DROPPED, THE BRAKE FAILED AND THE CABLE WAS LOST. WHEN THE STBD ANCHOR WAS DROPPED THE CABLE BROKE. THE VESSEL WAS DRIVEN ASHORE. 18 LOST.
