2.7.80 BUILT IN 1967 BY MITSUI SHIPBUILDING & ENGINEERING CO LTD, TAMANO. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY UNITED THAI SHIPPING CO. LTD. PASSAGE HAMBURG FOR BANGKOK. CARGO INCLUDED 4,300 TONS OF AMMONIUM SULPHATE, 233 TONS OF LUBRICATING OIL IN DRUMS, MACHINERY PARTS, MUNITIONS, REFRIGERATED GOODS & CONTAINERS. SHE RAN AGROUND IN THE RED SEA. AFTER HER CARGO WAS OFFLOADED, SHE WAS REFLOATED 2.7.80. DECLARED A CONSTRUCTIVE TOTAL LOSS. AFTER EXTENSIVE REPAIRS RETURNED TO SERVICE FEB. 1981 RENAMED TZELEPI. (MSD)
