The CASSAROSSA is an underwater wreck and marine obstruction located in the Adriatic Sea off the coast of Apulia, Italy. Search and hydrographic data record this sunken vessel site at coordinates 40° 47.5' N, 17° 37.35' E. Historical survey updates from the UK Hydrographic Office and Italian hydrographic authorities show that the wreck was first officially logged in April 2004 as a dangerous underwater obstruction under Notice to Mariners 2481/04 and Italian NM 5/11/04. While noted as absent on Italian Chart 920 in 2008, it was fully updated in June 2012 to the precise WGS84 coordinates 40° 47.541' N, 17° 37.354' E on Italian chart IT300029 Edition 2.8. Whether studied as a welded steel hull or a well broken seabed structure, the CASSAROSSA remains an important underwater feature for local marine navigation, divers, and hydrographic indexing.
