Simplified Wreck Survey

The wreck of the vessel known as the Caledonia is located at coordinates 57 38.733 N, 3 57.334 W in the waters off the Scottish coast near the Moray Firth. Historical hydrographic records from the UK Hydrographic Office previously identified this site as a submerged obstruction or non-dangerous wreck. However, a detailed survey conducted by HMS Enterprise in July 1975 using close echo-sounder searches failed to locate the Caledonia, leading to its classification as a dead or non-existent wreck in official maritime charts. While earlier reports placed the Caledonia 0.5 miles East by North of the E Riff buoy, subsequent navigational surveys have removed the site from active obstruction listings. Mariners and researchers should note that current data suggests no structural remains or underwater hazards exist at these geographical coordinates.
