Simplified Wreck Survey

The shipwreck BURUTU is located at coordinates 58 3.176 N, 7 49.154 W in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Scotland, north of the Outer Hebrides. Originally reported as taking on water and losing power in November 1991, the vessel was abandoned and sank in approximately 200 feet or 60 meters of water. While historical survey records listed the wreck as an underwater obstruction at a depth of 45 meters, a comprehensive hydrographic survey conducted in October 2010 by Gardline Hydro failed to locate the vessel at the charted position. Consequently, the BURUTU is now officially classified as disproved and the site is considered clear of this specific obstruction.

REPORTED TAKING IN WATER IN ENGINE ROOM. AN EMERGENCY PUMP FAILED TO STOP FLOODING AND SHE WAS ABANDONED BY CREW. LATER SANK.
