Simplified Wreck Survey

The UK Hydrographic Office wreck record for Bubbles, located at coordinates 50 43.6 N, 0 10.72 E in the English Channel near the Solent, details a small Fletcher class motorboat with a cuddy that sank following a fire and explosion on August 27, 2007. The vessel sank quickly after the single crewman abandoned ship by diving overboard. Coastguard reports indicated the small recreational boat was unlikely to pose a hazard to surface navigation in the area. During subsequent hydrographic surveys in January 2017, multibeam sonar data from Gardline survey HI 1477 failed to locate the wreck, leading maritime authorities to amend the status of the obstruction to dead as no remains were found on the seabed.

DESCRIBED AS A 'FLETCHER' WITH CUDDY & UNLIKELY TO BE A HAZARD TO SURFACE NAVIGATION IN THAT AREA. (SOLENT CG, TELECON, 3.9.07). INS AS NDWPA. BR STD. SEP 2015/000083466 25.1.17 NOT SEEN IN M/B DATASET. (GARDLINE, HI 1477). AMEND DEAD.
