The historic shipwreck Britannia is located in Plymouth Sound off the coast of Devon, England, recorded near coordinates 50 21.401 N, 4 9.152 W near Drake's Island. According to UK Hydrographic Office surveying records, the vessel originally sank following a maritime collision on February 12, 1923, resting southeast of the Drake's Island flagstaff. Shortly after the incident, salvage operations were launched by the King's Harbour Master Plymouth to clear the waterway. On February 16, 1923, the wreck was lifted and repositioned to shallow waters roughly 170 yards from the island flagstaff at a depth of 8 feet at low water, where it was temporarily marked by a green conical wreck buoy and deemed no longer a danger to navigation. By October 1924, underwater surveys confirmed the site was clear, leading to the removal of the buoy and wreck symbol from British Admiralty Chart 1967, with the official hydrographic record amended to dead.
