15.1.1977 ABANDONED AFTER EXPLOSION AND FIRE OFF ANGOLAN COAST ON 15.1.1977. TOWED INTO POINTE NOIRE WHERE SHE EVENTUALLY SANK. (LL, 19, 21.1.77, 11.5.77). VESSEL WAS BUILT IN 1948 BY WILLIAM DOXFORD & SONS, SUNDERLAND. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY COMPANHIA NACIONAL DE NAVEGACAO. 2 LIVES LOST. VESSEL WAS ON PASSAGE SAO TOME TO LUANDA, HAVING BEEN TAKEN TO POINTE NOIRE, SHE WAS CONSIDERED BEYOND ECONOMIC REPAIR AND TOWED OUT AND SUNK. (MSD)
