Simplified Wreck Survey

Underwater wreck located at coordinates 16 41.333 N, 88 14.85 W off the coast of Belize in the Caribbean Sea. This rectangular box-like shipwreck was examined in 1989 and identified as a sunken barge, measuring approximately 31 meters in length with a height of 2.5 meters. The wreck lies at a bearing of 021/201 degrees. Depth soundings indicate a least depth of 19.2 meters within a surrounding general depth of 21 to 22 meters. The vessel is believed to be a banana transport barge formerly used in coastal trade. Local authorities report no known history for the obstruction. Navigation charts record this hazard as a wreck at a depth of 10 fathoms 2 feet.
