The shipwreck of the MV Autorenault is located at coordinates 49 28 N, 0 6 E near the Honfleur coast in the Seine Estuary, France. The vessel sank on September 29, 1929, in approximately 16 feet of water at low tide. Initial salvage efforts focused on recovering a cargo of rubber, lubricating oil, and general merchandise, which were successfully landed and stored in Honfleur customs warehouses. While salvage was prioritized, the vessel eventually settled deep into the mud of the channel, rendering refloating operations impossible. IT IS FEARED THAT OWING TO THE STATE OF THE HULL AND THE VESSEL SINKING INTO THE MUD IT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE TO FLOAT HER STEPS HAVE BEEN TAKEN TO SECURE THE SAFETY OF NAVIGATION IN THE ROUEN CHANNEL.
