Underwater wreck site details for the Apostolos Andreas located off the coast of Haiti in the Caribbean Sea. The official position of the wreck is 18 31.75 N, 75 45.783 W. Historical survey records indicate the site contains the remains of a vessel possibly identified as the Apostolos Andreas, which lies in a general depth of 5 to 6 meters. Structural investigations conducted in 1985 identified the main engine cylinders appearing 0.3 meters above the water at high tide, lying in an ENE/WSW orientation. The wreckage shows signs of significant degradation, including extensive historical evidence of shelling and bombing. The site has also been associated with the grounding of the bulk carrier Ana Torrealba in 1985, though the primary submerged obstruction remains charted as a dangerous wreck due to its proximity to the surface and structural instability. Mariners should treat these coordinates as a navigation hazard.

AN UNEXPLODED BOMB AND A NUMBER OF UNEXPLODED SHELL PROJECTILES WERE LOCATED IN THE WKGE. (CONSTANT & CONSTANT ARM/KW/0085-122, DTD 14.6.85). COULD BE REMAINS OF 'APOSTOLOS ANDREAS', CHARTED CLOSE NE AND ORDNANCE COULD HAVE RESULTED FROM USE OF WK FOR TARGET PRACTICE. NCA YET. H3543/68 1.7.85 PRECISE SATNAV POSN 183145N, 754547W [WGD], CHECKED TWICE DAILY OVER PERIOD 25 JAN TO 9 FEB '85. AT HW WRKGE VISIBLE 0.3MTR ABOVE WATER AND CONSISTED OF CYLINDERS OF MAIN ENGINE, LYING IN ENE/WSW DIRN. GEN DEPTH IN VICINITY 5 TO 6MTRS. APPARENTLY HAS BEEN SUBJECTED TO EXTENSIVE BOMBING AND SHELLING. (CONSTANT & CONSTANT, 24.6.85). CHART AS DW, AS BREAKING UP AND TIDAL RANGE IS VERY SMALL. R/P. VESSEL, BUILT 1937, WHILST EN-ROUTE GUANTANAMO TO CHINA, RAN AGROUND ON FORMIGAS BANK OFF MORANT POINT, E COAST OF JAMAICA. VESSEL FLOODED DUE TO EXTENSIVE BOTTOM DAMAGE AND WAS ABANDONED AS A TOTAL LOSS WHEN SHE BEGAN TO BREAK UP. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY SANTA KATERINA CO. LTD. (MSD).
