Circumstances of loss
BUILT IN 1945 BY US NAVAL SHIPYARD, BOSTON, MASS. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY PARMENION SA. RAN AGROUND 3M NE OF BENGHAZI. THE CARGO WAS REMOVED BY CUTTING A HOLE IN THE HULL OF THE WRECKED VESSEL, WHICH WAS THEN ABANDONED AS A CTL. (MSD).
