Circumstances of loss

19.1.91 DAMAGED BY EXPLOSIONS AND FIRE WHILE UNLOADING CARGO. TOWED TO A SANDBANK IN ESTUARY UNTIL FIRE SUBSIDED AND THEN GROUNDED ON A SANDBANK AND ABANDONED. AN ATTEMPT IN 1980 TO BREAK UP THE WRECK CAUSED IT TO REFLOAT AND SETTLE IN CURRENT POSN NEAR NAVIGATION CHANNEL INTO WHICH IT COULD POSSIBLY SLIP. (LL 19.1.91).
