Simplified Wreck Survey

Underwater Wreck Report for North Coast of Ireland near Rathlin Island. This underwater obstruction is located at coordinates 55 10.867 N, 6 49.358 W. Originally identified as aircraft wreckage in 1947, modern hydrographic surveys conducted in 2008 using DGPS confirm the presence of a seabed object. The wreck has a measured least depth of 12.16 meters in an area with a general depth of 12.60 meters. The structure is small, measuring 5 meters in length and 5 meters in width with a height of 0.4 meters above the seabed. There is no evidence of scour and no magnetic anomaly detected. This site is charted as a wreck and remains an underwater navigation hazard for vessels and trawl nets in the waters off the Northern Irish coast.
