BUILT IN 1888 BY RICHARDSON, DUCK & CO. OWNED AT THE TIME OF LOSS BY BRITISH & EASTERN SHIPPING CO. PASSAGE HAMBURG FOR SAN DIEGO. ANCHORED OFF DUNGENESS DUE TO DENSE FOG, MAKING THE CORRECT SOUND SIGNALS. WAS RUN DOWN BY BATTLESHIP HMS CAESAR, WHICH WAS STEAMING IN COMPANY WITH OTHER UNITS OF CHANNEL FLEET, AND SSANK IMMEDIATELY. 18 MEN LOST. (DODS & SIBI).
