BUILT IN 1920 BY NAPIER & MILLER LTD, OLD KILPATRICK, GLASGOW. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY THE BLUE STAR LINE. ORIGINALLY LAID DOWN AS 'WAR PEONY' IN NOV 1919. LATER COMPLETED AS 'LUSIADA' AND IN 1929 RE-NAMED 'VIKING STAR'. PASSAGE BUENOS AIRES AND MONTEVIDEO FOR FREETOWN AND UK. SUNK BY U-130. CARGO INCLUDED 4519 TONS REFRIGERATED GOODS AND 200 TONS FERTILIZERS. (DODS, LLOYDS WAR LOSSES WWII, WARTIME STANDARD SHIPS VOL.3, AXIS SUBMARINE SUCCESSES 1939-1945).
