CHART AS DW IN 495858N, 061803W. R/P. H1280/76/24 27.1.76 H1280/76/24 27.1.76 REPORTED TO BE IN 495858.2N 061803.6W. LIES IN A DEPTH OF 135FT, ORIENTATED NW/SE WITH BOWS TO THE NW. LEAST DEPTH OVER THE WRECK IS 100FT. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE WRECK WILL SHIFT BEFORE SETTLING AS IT IS PERCHED ON A LEDGE WITH DEEPER WATER ON HER NORTH SIDE. THE WOODEN HULLED GRABBER STILL LAY IN ONE PIECE TWO WEEKS AFTER SHE SANK WITH MAST AND RIGGING STILL INTACT. THE SMALL SAIL WAS STILL OUT WHEN THE WRECK WAS FIRST FOUND. SHE LIES UPRIGHT ON THE BOTTOM WITH A SLIGHT LIST TO STARBOARD. NAMED AS THE 'VENUS DES ILES'. (RAF HONINGTON SUB AQUA EXPEDITION REPORT, 1-15.8.75). NCA. H1288/75 9.3.76 H1288/75 9.3.76 WRECK HAS NOW SLIPPED INTO DEEPER WATER OF ABOUT 55MTRS AND IS COMPLETELY SAFE. IT IS ABOUT 50YDS NORTH OF THE ORIGINAL POSN. (LETTER FROM LT CDR LAMPARD, 25.9.75). 2.8.75 ST MARY'S LIFEBOAT LAUNCHED & RESCUED 3 CREW FROM SINKING MFV. LIFEBOAT ATTEMPTED TO TAKE MFV IN TOW THEN TO BEACH BUT MFV SANK OFF LION ROCK, SCILLY ISLES. (RHQ LANDSEND SIG DTD 2.8.75 & LL, 4.8.75). 15.8.75 OWNED BY HER SKIPPER, MR GODDARD OF PENZANCE. STRUCK A ROCK AND BEGAN TO TAKE IN WATER WHILST TENDING HER CRAB POTS AROUND THE SEVEN STONES ROCKS. SHE ALSO GOT A ROPE WOUND HER PROPELLER. SHE SET OFF FOR THE SCILLY ISLES AND WAS EVENTUALLY PICKED UP AND TOWED BY THE ST MARY'S LIFEBOAT. WHEN JUST OFF THE LION ROCK SHE SANK.
