Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck Vedra is located off the coast of Walney Island at coordinates 54 0.175 N, 3 10.7 W. This large, intact wreck lies at a heading of 055/255 degrees with its bow facing northeast, measuring 109.4 meters long, 22 meters wide, and 1.8 meters high, featuring a partially buried stern quarter and a least depth of 0.74 meters in a general depth of 2.7 meters with a 0.8-meter scour. Historical survey records indicate that the site was previously marked by a green occulting light buoy before the wreck was reported as dispersed level with the ground and officially deleted from charts following updates in 2021.

PASSAGE SATIRE, TEXAS FOR BARROW. STRANDED ON WALNY ISLAND IN GALE. AFTER CONTINUOUS POUNDING BY SEA THERE WAS AN EXPLOSION AND THE SHIP BURST INTO FLAMES. 34 MEN DROWNED OR BURNED TO DEPTH. (SIBI).
