DCS3 HT 4.5MTRS. INTACT WK. (UDI). NFA. 1.10.98 THE WK OF UC 47. DIVED BY S CARR IN 1997. LOCATED IN AN AREA OF SAND HILL. NOSE DOWN INTO THE SAND WITH ONLY THE CONNING TOWER, GUN AND FULLY EXTENDED RADIO MAST CLEAR. STERN IS 6MTRS CLEAR OF THE SEABED. BOTH PROPS (MARKED UC 47) STILL ON THE SHAFTS. STERN TORPEDO TUBE BLOWN OFF AND LIES EMPTY ON THE STBD SIDE. DEPTH CHARGE DAMAGE AT THE STERN WITH A LARGE HOLE IN THE PORT SIDE. (DIVER MAGAZINE, OCTOBER 1998). HH100/351/17 18.9.01 UC-47 LIES IN 5400.437N, 0023.582W [WGD]. (R YOUNG, EMAIL DTD 18.9.01). NCA. 17.7.03 HAS BEEN DIVED RECENTLY. GUN WAS HANGING OFF LAST YEAR AND NOW HAS GONE, TOGETHER WITH A TORPEDO WHICH WAS LYING ON THE SEABED. HAS PROBABY BEEN HIT BY BEAM TRAWLERS. PROPS HAVE GONE TOO. (R YOUNG). NCA.
