Simplified Wreck Survey
The German World War I submarine wreck U 95 rests off the coast of Cornwall, United Kingdom, at the GPS coordinates 49 55.482 N, 5 11.701 W. Located at a general depth of 70.5 meters with a least multibeam depth of 65.6 meters, the intact submarine measures 63 meters in length, 8 meters in width, and 4.9 meters in height, lying on a heading of 161/241 degrees with a strong magnetic anomaly. Discovered and surveyed using DGPS, diving expeditions confirmed the identity of the WW1 submarine—which features closed hatches, a badly damaged stern, a damaged bow, and munitions strewn on the seabed—after it was rammed by the British steamship SS Braeneil.
