Circumstances of loss
SURRENDERED AT TRONDHEIM APRIL, 1945. WAS TOWED FROM LISAHALLY TO BE SCUTTLED UNDER OPERATION DEADLIGHT. TOWING VESSEL, RESCUE TUG FREEDOM, DEVELOPED ENGINE DEFECTS AND TOW WAS SLIPPED. SUBMARINE WAS THEN SUNK BY GUNFIRE FROM POLISH DESTROYER BLYSKAWICA.
