Simplified Wreck Survey
The underwater wreck of a German submarine, possibly U-672, lies at coordinates 50 2.742 N, 2 1.383 W in the English Channel. Surveyed at a depth of 54 meters, the vessel rests in an area with a general seabed depth of 60 meters. The wreck measures 33 meters in length with a height of 6.8 meters and is oriented on an east-west axis of 090/270 degrees. Divers have confirmed the site contains a significant magnetic anomaly consistent with a steel-hulled submarine. Previously misidentified as the vessel Uffe, the wreck was examined in 1991 and 1999 to establish its identity. The site shows no signs of seabed scour and remains a notable historical maritime feature in the region.

DCS3 HT 6.8MTRS, LENGTH 33MTRS. LIES 090/270 DEG WITH CENTRAL HIGH POINT. LARGE MAGNETIC ANOMALY. (HMS BULLDOG, HI 533). AMEND TO WK 54MTRS. - NM 783/92. HH100/351/14 4.6.99 WK DIVED ON 1.6.99 AND CONFIRMED TO BE A GERMAN SUBMARINE. THIS COULD POSSIBLY BE U 672. THE SINKING CIRCUMSTANCES OF THIS VESSEL WERE SUCH THAT ITS LOCATION SOME DISTANCE FROM WHERE IS WAS ATTACKED WOULD NOT BE SURPRISING. (I MCCARTNEY, FAX DTD 3.6.99). NCA. 25.6.99 IDENTITY TO BE CINC.
