| Surveying Details | SANK IN APPROX POSN 511500N, 090500W (BR 1736 (S1)(1A), APP 2). 23.6.97 LOCATED AND DIVED. LIES IN 46MTRS ON ROCKY BED. LIES ON PORT SIDE WITH BOW DAMAGE. TORPEDO TUBES AND SEVERED HYDROPLANE REVEALED. ONE PERISCOPE IS STILL EXTENDED AND WATERTIGHT. SOME OUTER HULL PLATING HAS FALLEN OFF AND THE DECK PLANKING NO LONGER EXISTS. THE NOSE OF ONE TORPEDO CAN BE SEEN IN ONE TUBE AND A FIFTH TUBE IS VISIBLE BETWEEN THE TWIN STEEL PROPS. SNORKEL FITTED AND FOLDED. (DIVER, JULY 1997). RECORD POSN AMENDED. |
