(W PERT, SEAWAYS DIVING (UK) LTD, TELECON 10.10.79). H1310/85/15 15.5.85 LOCATED IN 512616N, 101449W. WK COLLAPSED DOWN ON ITSELF. SALVAGE WORK IN PROGRESS. HIGHEST POINT (BOILERS) HAD E/S DEPTH 94MTRS AT 1545(BST) ON 10.5.85. MUCH DEBRIS ON SEABED ON PORT SIDE OF WK AND SEVERAL NETS SNAGGED ON WRECKAGE. (SEASALV MARINE LTD, 13.5.85). CHART AS WK 93MTRS. BUILT IN 1902 BY A STEPHEN & SONS LTD, GLASGOW. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY AFRICAN SS CO LTD (ELDER DEMPSTER). THREE BOILERS, TRIPLE EXPANSION ENGINE OF 525NHP, SINGLE SHAFT. PASSAGE SIERRA LEONE FOR LIVERPOOL. IN ADDITION TO AFRICAN PRODUCE CARGO INCLUDED: TIN CONCENTRATES VALUED AT �5400, BLOCK TIN, �3844; TIN ORE, �50461 AND ONE BOX OF GOLD WORTH �12000. TORPEDOED BY U-57 AND ABANDONED. THEN SUNK BY SECOND TORPEDO. NO LIVES LOST. (SII).
