Underwater Obstruction and Wreck Survey Details Position 56 27.577 N 2 32.27 W Off the Coast of the United Kingdom This historic marine site located in UK waters features comprehensive hydrographic survey records dating from 1969 to 2008 Initially examined by HMS Beagle in 1969 as a wreck with a least echo sounder depth of 81 feet in a general depth of 82 feet with a scour depth of 84 feet Early descriptions noted a length of approximately 380 feet an orientation aligned at 298 to 128 degrees and a structure almost completely buried in sand and mud with possibilities of being a submarine wreck Subsequent surveys in 1989 and 2003 failed to locate the main structure resulting in the classification being amended to foul ground Modern multibeam sonar investigations conducted by Gardline Hydro in August 2008 successfully relocated the obstruction using DGPS at coordinates 56 27.577 N 02 32.270 W recording a least multibeam depth of 24.6 meters within a general depth of 25.1 meters The remaining seabed anomaly measures 135 meters in length 50 meters in width and 0.5 meters in height presenting as a large patch of disturbed seabed with no remaining magnetic anomaly or scour while retaining its foul ground classification
