BUILT IN 1945 BY OREGON SHIP BUILDING CORP, PORTLAND, OREGON. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY S.A.LONG. PASSAGE HOUSTON FOR CALCUTTA. STARTED TO LIST WHEN HER CARGO SHIFTED IN HEAVY SEAS 780 MILES SE OF BERMUDA. 4 MEN LOST, REST OF CREW SAFELY RESCUED WHEN SHIP WAS ABANDONED. SHE WAS TOWED 90 MILES THEN SANK WHEN THE WEATHER DETERIORATED. (MSD)
