Circumstances of loss

VESSEL, BUILT 1969, CAUGHT FIRE SHORTLY AFTER LEAVING VIGO FOR S AFRICA. SHE PUT BACK TO PORT & TUGS TRIED TO CONTROL THE BLAZE. THE FIRE SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE VESSEL & SHE WAS TOWED OUT TO SEA BURNING UNCONTROLLABLY. SHE SANK IN DEEP WATER DUE TO VOLUME OF WATER PUMPED ON BOARD. (MSD).
