Simplified Wreck Survey

UK Hydrographic Office wreck records for the SEMOY, located off the coast of France in the English Channel near Cherbourg at coordinates 49 24.167 N, 0 2.22 E, document its history from 1948 to 1990. Initially marked as a dangerous wreck by various conical and cardinal light buoys, dispersal operations were underway by July 1984, with fishing and navigation forbidden in a 1.5-mile radius. Surveys over time refined the wreck position and least depth, recording a depth of 0.2 meters by vertical sonar in December 1987, and subsequently updating to a least depth of 1.7 meters marked by an East cardinal light buoy with a VQ(3)5S characteristic.
