STEAM TURBINE TANKER CAPABLE OF 14 KNOTS, BUILT 1956 BY CAMMELL LAIRDS, BIRKENHEAD. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY EAGLE OIL & SHIPPING CO. ON PASSAGE KUWAIT TO BALIKPAPAN, INDONESIA WITH CARGO OF KUWAIT CRUDE. VESSEL WAS ANCHORED IN BALIKPAPAN BAY WHEN SHE WAS ATTACKED BY AN EX AMERICAN WW2 B-52 BOMBER OPERATED BY CELEBES INSURGENT REBELS DURING INDONESIAN CIVIL WAR. VESSEL WAS HIT BY A BOMB WHICH TRIGGERED A HUGE EXPLOSION. 2 OF 53 CREW LOST. VESSEL BROKE IN TWO & WAS A TOTAL LOSS. (SEA BREEZES AUG'06)
