THE FIX SHOWS THE POSN OF THE SHOALEST SOUNDING OBTAINED, IT IS NEAR THE NW END OF THE WK, WHICH WAS CLOSELY SOUNDED, BUT NOT ADEQUATELY EXAMINED. LEAST E/S DEPTH 60 IN GEN DEPTH 78FT. SCOUR TO 83FT. SEABED OF BLACK MUD. (HMS VIDAL, HI 355/1968). BR STD. 7.1.69 QUITE A SIZEABLE WK AND FROM ITS ROUNDED EDGES ON THE E/S TRACE AN OLD ONE SILTED OVER. (HMS VIDAL, ROS DTD 17.8.68). PASSAGE MIDDLESBOROUGH FOR GRANGEMOUTH. SANK 2M W OF FORTH BRIDGE, FOLLOWING COLLISION IN CALM CONDITIONS AND FOG WITH SS PRUDHOE CASTLE. SALVAGE ATTEMPT ABANDONED. (SIBI & SHIPWRECKS OF THE FORTH & TAY).
