VESSEL, BUILT 1898, OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY NEPTUNE STEAM NAVIGATION CO. ON PASSAGE LEITH TO FOWEY, WAS CAPTURED & THEN TORPEDOED BY GERMAN SUBMARINE U9 WHEN 20M S BY E OF LONGSTONE. VESSEL REMAINED AFLOAT AND WAS BEACHED 1.32M SSE OF BONDICARR BUSH WITHOUT LOSS OF LIFE. VESSEL WAS WRITTEN OFF AS A TOTAL WRECK. (R YOUNG)
