While historical records tentatively associate the site with the 8418 gross registered ton vessel Port Nicholson, recorded wreckage dimensions measuring 18 by 5 meters sparked historical discrepancies regarding the exact vessel identification. Additional nearby wreckage data notes a depth of 9.2 meters close to the east. Modern chart evaluations indicate the wreck has been removed from official French mapping records.
