Circumstances of loss
VESSEL, BUILT 1907 BY J FULLERTON & CO, PAISLEY WITH 2 CYLINDER COMPOUND ENGINE, 1 BOILER. SOUGHT SHELTER FROM NE GALE IN CARLINGFORD LOUGH WHILE ON PASSAGE GARSTON TO DUNDALK. WHILE ANCHORED VESSEL WAS STRUCK BY SS OLIVE AND SANK IN 10 MINUTES. ALL CREW RESCUED. CONTRACT TO RAISE VESSEL, WHICH WAS LYING IN MAIN CHANNEL WAS AWARDED TO TO MESSRS SAMUEL GRAY, BELFAST SHIPOWNERS AND SALVAGE CONTRACTORS. FOLLOWING REFIT VESSEL WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE IN 1939 HAVING BEEN SOLD TO ISAAC STEWART, BELFAST. (SII)
