Simplified Wreck Survey

The shipwreck named Paris is located at coordinates 49 9.733 N, 2 9 W in the English Channel near Jersey, Channel Islands. The wreck of the Paris is in a very poor state, well broken up, and largely buried under gravel and large boulders, with only the boilers, engines, and paddles remaining visible while the bow faces north. Historical surveys indicate the site is foul, and the wreck was not located during a subsequent multibeam sonar survey by HMSML Gleaner, leading to its classification as dead.

H1246/70 3.8.70 REPORTED TO LIE 7 CABLES FROM NOIRMONT PT TR & 6 CABLES FROM SILLETTE BN. COMPLETELY COVERED WITH GRAVEL. ONLY THE BOILERS & ENGINES WITH THE PADDLES SHOW. WK IN VERY POOR STATE & BREAKS UP EASILY. BOWS THOUGHT TO LIE TO THE N. DUE TO LARGE BOULDERS IN THE GRAVEL WHERE HULL SHOULD BE, PRESUMED THAT MUCH OF THE HULL HAS BEEN CARRIED AWAY & NOT BURIED.
