Simplified Wreck Survey

Underwater wreck or obstruction report for a section of a moonpool platform located at coordinates 61 4.601 N, 2 6.809 W in the North Sea off the coast of Scotland. The debris consists of a steel section measuring 22ft by 6ft with an estimated weight of 2 tons. Following the loss of the item in September 2009, extensive underwater search operations were conducted using ROV visual surveys and sonar. The search covered a radius of 120 meters and 200 meters from the well centre, with further secondary searches extending 440 meters aft and 360 meters forward of the rig. The obstruction was not located during these surveys, and it is currently considered unlikely that this structural debris will be found.

Circumstances of loss

LOST BY TRANOCEAN RATHER WHEN A WAVE HIT THE RIG AND CAME UP THROUGH THE MOONPOOL, HITTING THE WORK PLATFORM ON THE STBD SIDE. THE FORCE OF THE WAVE LIFTED UP THE PLATFORM AND IT SLID INTO THE SEA.
