Simplified Wreck Survey

Underwater wreck survey details for the obstruction located at 19 54.833 S, 178 17.1 W near Vatoa Island, Fiji. Historically identified as HMS Penn, the site consists of two well-broken welded steel wrecks originally located 5.35 meters from the spot height 209 on Vatoa or Turtle Island. Over several decades, the position has been cross-verified by both air photography and military surveys, with slight geographical variations reported over time. By 1996, the Fiji Hydrographic Office reported that the remains were no longer visible at high tide and could no longer be clearly identified as ship wrecks, instead appearing as pieces of rock scattered across the reef. This site is indexed for maritime charting purposes and historical naval record 48349.
