PASSAGE SUEZ AND FREETOWN FOR MANCHESTER IN CONVOY. WAS TORPEDOED AND SUNK BY U-509 200M NW OF THE CANARY ISLANDS. 19 MEN LOST. CARGO INCLUDED 1501 TONS COPPER. (DODS, LLOYDS WAR LOSSES WWII, WARTIME STANDARD SHIPS VOL.3, AXIS SUBMARINE SUCCESSES 1939-45).
