Simplified Wreck Survey

Wreck site MUDLARK located at coordinates 51 28.433 N, 1 11.997 E near the Thames Estuary and the Kent coastline. The site is identified as the wreckage of a missing yacht originally reported near Pan Sand Beacon and Ridge Sand. Historical survey records indicate the debris previously stood approximately 4 feet proud of the sand. Although subsequent underwater investigations using transit sonar, echo sounders, and acoustic sweeps in 1970 failed to detect the structure, the position remains logged as a historical underwater obstruction in the vicinity of Reculver and Bishopstone Glen. This site is categorized as a search area for maritime history enthusiasts and nautical chart researchers interested in coastal wreck data.

H1501/64 20.4.64 WRECKAGE OF YACHT ON RIDGE SAND. STANDS 4FT PROUD OF SAND. (THV VESTAL). H2133/70 30.1.70 SEARCH MADE BY TRANSIT SONAR ALSO E/S & A/S INVESTIGATIONS. NO INDICATION OF WRECKAGE FOUND. NO ATTEMPT MADE TO DISPROVE WK. (HMS EGERIA, HI 51/69).
