Simplified Wreck Survey

The wreck of the vessel Miss Cecilia is located at coordinates 59 5.97 N, 6 9.671 W, situated off the coast of the remote island of Sula Sgeir in the North Atlantic. Following the vessel sinking in January 1976 after running aground on rocks, the wreck site was surveyed, though subsequent attempts to locate the remains using sonar equipment were unsuccessful. Due to the extreme weather conditions and heavy seas characteristic of this area, the Miss Cecilia is considered destroyed, with the possibility that the structural remains were broken up or moved by winter storms and deep-sea currents into the rocky seabed under the cliffs of Sula Sgeir. The official status of the obstruction is recorded as dead, reflecting the belief that the vessel has been swept away or collapsed into the rugged underwater terrain.

(HMS HERALD, HI 7(B)/80). AMENDED TO DEAD.
