Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck Lucilla is an underwater obstruction located at coordinates 50 46.434 N, 1 18.353 W off Egypt Point in the Solent near Cowes. Historical survey records from the UK Hydrographic Office note that the wreck site has a depth of approximately 55 feet or 9 to 10 fathoms. Early 1930s salvage operations and searches by HMS Flinders found that the obstruction may be broken up after explosives were used by Trinity House to remove the mast, resulting in the wreck status being amended to dead.

SWEPT N-S WITH NO RESULT EVEN THOUGH CHAIN BURNISHED. CLOSELY SOUNDED BY MOTOR BOATS, SOUNDINGS AGREE WITH CHART. POSSIBLY BROKEN UP AFTER EXPLOSIVES WERE USED TO REMOVE MAST BY TRINITY HOUSE. (HMS FLINDERS, 14.10.30). H5294/30 21.10.30 NO FURTHER SEARCH REQUIRED. (HYDROGRAPHER). AMENDED TO DEAD.
