Simplified Wreck Survey

Wreck details for L'ESSROYABLE located off the coast of Portland Bill in the English Channel at coordinates 50 30.035 N, 2 28.079 W. The vessel L'ESSROYABLE capsized in the Portland Race and sank on 28 August 1979. Subsequent hydrographic surveys conducted in 1985 by Gardline Surveys and in 2009 by Fugro OSAE failed to locate the wreck at the reported position, resulting in the status of this underwater obstruction being amended to dead or non-existent in official records. No structural remains such as welded steel or broken debris have been identified by multi-beam sonar sweeps in the area.
