Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck Lapwing is located at coordinates 52 14.008 N, 2 0.009 E. Initially discovered and surveyed by HMS Scott in 1961, the wreck was later confirmed in 2005 through diving investigations as the vessel Lapwing. Modern multibeam sonar examinations conducted in December 2016 provide precise structural descriptions of the underwater obstruction. The intact and upright steel wreck lies in a general water depth of 34 meters, with a least multibeam depth over the site measuring 26.84 meters. The dimensions of the submerged structure are 77.3 meters in length, 13.8 meters in width, and a height of 6.3 meters, oriented along a 170/350 degree heading with a localized scour measuring 14.42 meters long and 0.86 meters deep.
