Simplified Wreck Survey

The underwater wreck of the Laegteren is located in the Øresund strait off the Danish coast south of Copenhagen, positioned at coordinates 55 31.15 N, 12 44.24 E. Initially identified in October 1919 as a hazardous obstruction with a least depth of only 0.5 meters, the site was marked with navigational light buoys. Over the following years, depth clearings amended the least depth to 6.2 meters in 1922 and 8.7 meters by 1925, allowing surface marker buoys to be safely removed. Danish hydrographic records document that the wreck was blown up with explosives in February 1972 to further mitigate navigational risk, leaving the broken hull settled on the seabed. Modern hydrographic surveys confirm the site as an underwater obstruction with a charted least depth of approximately 9 meters.
